Sing Li Restaurant
About This Spot
Walking into Sing Li Restaurant feels like stepping into a cherished corner of Johor Bahru where time moves just a bit slower, inviting you to savor simple pleasures. Tucked away on Jalan Serigala, this modest eatery hums with the steady rhythm of neighborhood life — lively yet unpretentious, warm but bustling. The chatter of diners, clatter of bowls, and the fragrant wafts of simmering broths create an atmosphere that’s part daily ritual, part comforting refuge.
The space itself carries an old-school charm, reminiscent of classic kopitiams where regulars linger over their kopi and plates of noodles. It’s bustling, no doubt—tables often full, a cozy crowd that speaks to a sense of community and familiarity. Here, the pace is energetic but never rushed; food arrives with a steady flow, encouraging shared moments amid the friendly buzz.
As a casual local eatery, Sing Li excels at straightforward, heartfelt Chinese-Malaysian fare. The kitchen’s offerings seem to carry stories in every bowl — whether it’s the rich, savory layers found in the prawn noodle soup or the nostalgic sizzle of char kway teow fresh from the wok. The simple act of adding a dash of vinegar or a spoonful of chopped garlic becomes a personal touch, a way to engage with the flavors and the place itself. These dishes, humble in presentation, are the kind that linger in memory more for their soul than for spectacle.
Behind the food, there’s a rhythm that matches what locals appreciate: genuine taste, swift service, and the comforting feeling of a familiar haunt. Despite the sometimes tight seating and the steady flow of visitors, there’s an unmistakable warmth that calls you back—a reminder that some of the best meals are woven into the everyday fabric of a place, quietly inviting you to experience them again and again.

Penang Hokkien Bihun (Prawn noodle) is so good! Feels like back to Penang! Service is good and food is fast! But a bit hot and packed! Only one baby chair that is old.

We can add vinegar and chopped garlic freely. Prawn, pork skin, lean meat and half egg with fried shallots as garnishing. Expect coffee shop service. Old - school atmosphere. Worth eating.

Hokkien prawn mee was flavourful and delicious! Lacking ingredients but great. The char kway teow was decent. Could be more flavourful.

The char kway teow is good. Additional eggs will enhance the taste. Always busy and will need to wait for your order
